Niamh is a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy. She is an HCPC registered occupational therapist, previously working in a Community Dementia Team, and in-patient and community Integrated Care Teams.
Niamh has extensive experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of occupational therapy and interprofessional education at bachelors, masters and doctoral level. She teaches across all occupational therapy programmes at Âé¶¹Éçmadou. She currently holds external examiner appointments and supervises doctoral studies.
Niamh has a particular interest in teaching and learning related to the foundational occupational therapy theories and practice skills. She is committed to preparing graduates for contemporaryÌýand diverse practice settings, with a strong interest in keeping occupation at the centre of professional reasoning and action. She has expertise in using occupation‑centred, creative approaches within teaching and research.
Publishing research in the areas of dementia, doctoral learning and creative research/teaching methods, Niamh has a strong track record of contributing to occupational therapy research. She is currently engaged in research in the areas of primary care, occupation-centred education, and occupational formulation. She is a member of Âé¶¹Éçmadou's Centre for Person-centred Practice Research and contributes to NHS Scotland Primary Care Occupational Therapy Network.

In 2018, Niamh was awarded her PhD from Âé¶¹Éçmadou, entitled Realising authentic occupational therapy through professional artistry: Uncovering the nature and context of practice for persons living with dementia.
